The Dennygirls travelled to Bradford City Women's First team away in the next round of the county cup held at Bradford Park Avenues stadium. With City women three leagues above the Dennygirls it would not seem as such for large periods of times, the game began evenly with Thackley allowing Bradford to retain possession for the opening ten minutes with neither side really finding opportunity or chance to have an effort upon goal until a mix up in defence on the 13th minute was capitalised upon by the Bradford striker to slot home and make it 1-0 to the hosts. That seemed to fire up the Denngirls even more with them maintaining the majority of possession for the rest of the first half, Lucy Preston nearling pulling Thackley level on the 17th minute when she ran through on the left hand side but saw her shot well saved. The resulting corner was headed just over by Chelsea Morton. It was Sophie Mouldens turn on the 21st minute to just shoot wide when she dispossessed the Bradford defence and ran through on goal, it seemed in any other game these chances would have gone the other side of the post but today luck seemed to be against Thackley. None more so was this evident than in the 34th minute when Moulden struck a freekick which was cleared for a corner. The corner in question being met by Rosie Hodgsons whos shot was yet again denied by the City goalkeeper for yet another corner, the pressure mounting and as the corner came in and was half cleared Molly Ellis was fouled on the edge of the box, Moulden stepping up for the freekick again striking it cleanly only to see, and hear, it crash agonisingly against the bar.
The second half began with much of the same, Thackley Ladies retained much of the possession and escaped for breakaway moments for Bradford. They were nearly level again in the 56th minute when Mouldens corner was met by Beth Davies but her effort was cleared off the line by a Bradford defender. With a plethora of missed opportunities it was a misplaced pass that sealed Thackley fate, with City latching onto it and firing from range to seal the game at 2-0. The Dennygirls however have every right to hold their heads up high, the last meeting between these two sides was a 15-0 gulf in the favour of Bradford City, today neutral onlookers commented on not realising there was any league disparity at all let alone 3 leagues difference. On another day, the result could have been much different, but Thackley Ladies suffer their first defeat of the season at the hands of Bradford City Ladies First Team
