The Dennygirls travelled to Selby to face Brayton Belles, and although there may have been a smell of bread in the air due to a local factory the conditions were anything but toasty. With a full debut handed to Helen Moreton it was service as usual for Thackley who started on the front foot and the opening minutes saw a resilient Brayton Belles defensive line, combined with their goalkeeper, keep the scoreline all level even after chances for Sophie Moulden. It looked destined to be 1-0 when Demi Godsons' perfectly timed through ball was latched onto by Rosie Hodgson but her effort was saved. This seemed to get Hodgsons sights in as not a minute later a Mouden through ball was slotted home by Hodgson to break the deadlock. With that manager Steve Winterburn gave Thackley under 18’s player Victory Chinweuba her debut and she looked busy and a handful for the Brayton defence from the get go. More of the same in the second half with chances missed until in the 77nd minute Ellie Scott looked up from a tight angle and noticed the Brayton Belles keeper off her line, looping a perfect shot over her head and into the back of the net to double the Thackley lead. With that the reigns seemed to come off Thackley with Zoe Roberts having multiple efforts sailing inches past the woodwork, this seemed to spur the team on and Lucy Preston fired a shot from 30 yards which clattered into the post and fell kindly to Chelsea Morton who caught the defence flat footed to make it 3-0. A spirited Brayton Belles defence seemed to switch off for a second from the kick off and Molly Ellis saw her opportunity from a Morton through ball to run through on goal and finish the game at 4-0.
