Thackley Ladies got off to a good start to the new season with a win away to Ackworth Ladies. Two goals from debutant Rachael White secured the 3 points in the 2-1 win. It was a slow start as the Thackley players struggled to adapt to the conditions of the pitch. But once the first goal went in Thackley started to dominate. The first was clipped in off the right boot from a good low cross from Molly Ellis and the second followed 3 minutes later with a header from White after a good corner by Sophie Moulden was poorly parried by the Ackworth keeper.
Following a couple of injuries and niggles Thackley were forced to make changes midway through the second half which set their flowing football back slightly due to the mass of changes and Thackley conceded in the 65th minute. Fortunately Thackleys experience and calmness got them through the game without any further hiccups and came close on several occasions to extending their lead but the game finished 2-1. Thackley are now looking forward to their next game on familiar territory as they host Hepworth United Ladies at Thackley on the 8th September. Kick off 2pm.
